Orig. in Fort Valley, Ga., by J.H. Weinberger, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Hort. Field Sta. Introd. in 1945. Halehaven x self; selected in 1939. Fruit: size medium; round; skin bright red, attractive, light pubescence; flesh yellow, medium firm; clingstone; ripens early, about 10 to 12 days before Redhaven, 5 to 6 weeks before Elberta; good quality for very early shipping and local markets. Tree: vigor medium; highly productive; blooms late; tolerant to leaf curl; flower small, nonshowy; leaf glands globose.
